What were you like as a child?

This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for July 13, 2007:
I was cute as a button, of course! :) I was a very girly, girl--wore dresses almost every day to school, and I was always very aware of what teenagers were wearing. I played dress-up and put on make-up and held dance concerts for my neighbors. I wore creative combinations of clothes that my classmates made fun of, and yet I kept doing it. (YES!) I wrote poetry and taped myself singing songs from "Annie," "Mary Poppins," and Tiffany, to name a few. I feel so blessed to still have a few of these treasures. :)
In many ways I was very sad, though. I had a rough childhood at home, and it is never fun being made fun of at school. I think I felt very isolated much of the time, which is why I was so intensely creative. I learned pretty awesome coping skills at such a young age. I remember feeling like my body and my years didn't really represent me. I was SO conscious even at the age of 5. Needless to say, I wouldn't take any moment of it back. I've lived such a rich and growth-inspiring life thus far. I want to go back and drown that little girls cheeks in kisses!
