Writer's Block
I wrote the following poem shortly before beginning an article that has an upcoming deadline. It came as a result of asking myself the question: "Why do I always get so freaked out and get myself all worked up before I start writing--something that I truly love to do? This flowed out very freely within minutes, and I'm choosing to keep it unedited because it really explains the truth of that moment. Blessings. :)Melissa
Writer’s Block
White page staring back at me,
if you could speak, you would
ask me how I could think I am
smart enough to post my art
upon your skin.
How could I possibly know
what to write as I drown
within the depths of your
opaque disapproval? You
reflect back to me all
the fear that harbors at the shore
of my imagination—my
inadequacy stuck to you
like glue. I am not to be
included on this page.
So I write about nothing
related to the assignment
at hand, but rather a topic for
your approval. The Truth.
that I am terrified to be
exposed.
